I just bought some potted star gazer lilies and want to plant them in the yard.?

Question:BUT the little care thing that comes with it just says to have indirect light in a 60-70 degree house temp. Which is sort of saying not to plant them.
Indirect light I can do, but I live in Virginia and it gets really hot here in the summer and in the 20's-30's usually in the winter.
So, will they be ok if i plant them outside?

Answers:
I live in southwestern ontario, canada. Very hot and humid in the summer, and very cold and snowy in the winter. I have Star Gazer Lillies planted in a bed behind my house that only gets sun from 6 am to 9 am.. the rest of the day it's in shade. I cut the plant back in autumn and leave the bulb in the ground in winter. So go ahead and plant it and enjoy it for years to come!

They are spring bulbs. They may not be hardy enough to winter over.

Try planting them in a semi shade area. Don't over water them or the bulbs will rot. They are rather tolerant of hotter temperatures, but the leaves might burn in the direct, hot sun.
Plant them somewhere where they will be shaded from the hot afternoon sun. They should do well in your climate. I grow them in my garden (in Ohio...winters 0 to 10 degrees) and they seem to multiply as the years go by. They are summer-flowering bulbs. When not forced for earlier sale, they flower in gardens in late June/early July.
