Question:i bought a red dogwood tree back in april or may. the leaves never came out. there are still only tiny leaves buds.showing, just the buds no leaves. occasionally i fingernail scrape a section to see if its still green. It is still green. Maybe it will not start until next spring maybe?

Answers:
My dogwoods begin getting blooms and leaves around mid-late March. I am in Hardiness Zone 6, which is a very good zone for Dogwoods. Maybe you just planted your tree to late or it got hit by frost. My cherry tree (which I planted Mother's Day '06) lost all of its leaves to a late frost, but the branches still look very healtyh so I am waiting. I'd give your dogwood until next spring.
See the source website to check your zone.

It sounds like the transplant didn't take. Contact the nursery you bought it from. Usually, they have guarantees, so that if something doesn't take, they will replace it for free.
