Sowing seed direct?

Question:When it says on a seed packet ` sow direct` why is this? Does the seed in question not grow well in a pot indoors or does it not transfer well to the soil later on?

Answers:
Some plants don't like root disturbance, so you sow them in situ - then thin them out when they are seedlings.

I find it depends on what you are sowing. For instance I find that sweetcorn grows better in seed trays and then transplanted, although the packet says sow direct. In general I find that vegetables which say sow direct, can generally be sown in trays or into the ground, whereas flowers tend not to thrive in seed trays, so if they say sow direct, I do.
just because it says this doesn't mean it only grows well if sown directly in soil! plant it how u want and it'll grow the same way! soak the seeds in a cup of water for about 18 to 24 hours and they will germinate 75% faster then any other method! good luck
