What kind of plant can grow around evergreen trees?
Question:I have two evergreen trees in front of my house. I love my trees but i would love to have flowers to grow under them. But since evergreens are so acidic to the soil it's been hard to find something. Any advice would be welcome
Answers:
You've had some good answers already. Azaleas like acidic soil and shade, as do rhododendrons.
However, if you would like the area under the trees to look nice, try some pachysandra, it is a type of ground cover. They like acidic soil, are evergreen, low growing, and while they don't have stunning flowers, they do have some white flowers in the spring.
I have often planted pachysandra around evergreen trees for customers. They keep the weeds down, and help the whole area to look attractive.

Good luck!
Try rhododendrons or azaleas, some ferns do well also. Check with your nursery for other plants that thrive in acidic soil.
ok this actually grows underneath my cedar tree groundcover called sedum or try acid loving plants like azaleas.
Do you mean coniferous trees with pine needles carpeting the soil ? Is this why you think the soil is acidic? Do you have enough light below these trees ? Given the right conditions Camellias, Azaleas, and some of the Cyclamens can put on a show.
