I need help! the algea in my pool won't leave!?
Question:I already added 12 bags of punch and it still comes back! any inexpensive ideas on how to get rid of the algea?
Answers:
I thumbs downed T-pot's answer because the HTH service call has screwed up countless pools this year.
How many gallons of water is your pool? What is the material it's made of? What type of filtration system do you have? What type of shock have you been adding (calcium hypochlorite or a different chemical type)? What are the water chemistry readings? If you don't have the ability to test for the following then please take a sample down to your local pool store and have them test for:
Total chlorine
Free chlorine
Combined chlorine
pH
Alkalinity
Hardness
Cyanuric acid
Total dissolved solids
Metals (copper, iron, manganese)
Phosphates
Bring the results back and post them or feel free to send them and the above information to robandliz1992@yahoo.com and I'll be more than happy to help you out.
There are different kinds of algae. Make sure you are using the right kind of algaecide for your problem. Sometimes shocking the pool will help but only if you maintain the correct pH. Chlorine is most beneficial only when the pH is correct. I hope this is helpful. I had the same problem.
Try taking a net and scoop it out if that wont work then try to suck up all the water and put in some new water.
(I would suggest the secound one)
Call the 1-800 # listed on the "HTH" chlorine label. and ask them . they will be able to tell you real answers. I did this once when our Krystal-Clear pool water turned a deep seagreen instantly as I added chlorine to it. They told me why it did that and how to cure it. Try giving them a call.. and GOOD LUCK with your pool!
Get you a bottle of Fall Out or Flocking, (it has several names). Get your PH high and put the whole bottle in with the filter on circulate and let it run for 2 hours and turn it off let sit over night and by morning it will all have settled to the bottom. Then start vacuuming , it might take a couple of time if water gets to low.
Mine was the same way. It will turn water clear. It works great if water is not real clear too. I even used more shock then that!! But you may also have to change the sand in the filter also if it hasn't been done in about 5 years or more. That was another contributing factor too !!
