Has anyone seen any butterflies yet or have they all drowned?

Answers:
Strangely enough I haven't, their wings must be waterlogged, slowing them and making them easy pray for the birds. See loads of moths at night. Lets hope for a long sunny spell when the graceful fritillaries will once again adorn our gardens. Nothing like a brightly coloured butterfly lazily flopping from flower to flower. With the so called global warming we should start seeing more exotic species, but I'd give it a miss this year. Foul, and we are off on holiday next week .
Long happy summer to you, it will come I promise
In the past summers when the plants that caterpillars eat, they failed to grow and butterflies became scarce . Last summer the rare plants started to grow and the butterflies returned once more. They are appearing in peoples gardens and in the countryside and on high ground. The kinds that I have seen are----Red Admirals--Peacocks--Commas and there are quite a few butterflies in the woodlands. There has'nt been much flooding where I live and they have a good chance of thriving.
