I have rose cuttings from wild roses. how can i get them to root ?

Question:i have tried this before and they just rot away. i have planted them and placed them in a plastic bag with no sucess, any suggestion.

Answers:
split at bottom of stem about quarter inch into the stem dip in water for 5 min put splinter in between stem you cut dip in rooting powder and plant about 4 inches into compost

Well first of all the cuttings must be new growth. First go to your local garden center and get some root starter. Then take your new growth cuttings and cut the ends at a 45 degree angle, dip the ends into the starter and plant in a good potting soil and water regularly, but don't overwater. Hope this helps Mike
