What is the best use of dead leaves in my garden?

spread them on the ground run over them a few times with a lawnmower then put the cut up leaves on top the ground in your garden


use for mulch or compost. if they are dried leaves, layer with fresh grass clippings. The following spring you will have the coveted black gold compost that gardeners go crazy for.. and their plants too!
Leave them there. they will turn into compost and enrich tour soil.
Start a compost pile!

As other posters suggest, mulching or compost is an excellent way to use dead leaves. However, you should first assure that there are no insects or insect eggs (aphids! arrgh!) overwintering in the dead leaves.
As a mulch to keep the soil cool in this heat. It will also in time replenish the soil. Norma
