How do you make your grass grow?
Question:we have grass, but it is ugly, and lots of crab grass, and pine trees. is there something we can put on there besides weed killer, fertilizer, and aerate/grass seeds?
Answers:
Planting glass is not a easy task. taking care of a good lawn is as demanding as taking care of plant.
Try this... and this is what I do to keep my garden nice amd green with pearl glass
1) Fertilize it once every 2 weeks. use mainly organic fertilizer and once a while.. (maybe about 2 month once)... use chemical fertilizer with high N content... using only chemical fertilizer will destroy your soil although it will give you faster result than organic fertilizer.(once your soil turns hard due to too much chemical fertilizer. you are in for another problem)
2) Spray pesticide evenly over the grass every week. if your glass lawn have yellow patches or suddenly a spot die off... it is bec of insects that eat up their leaves or roots...
3) I dont use weed killer... I weed my grass manually... water the lawn so that the soil is wet.. and pull up the weed with their roots.. make sure that the seeds of the weed dont get disperce when you pull them up... of course this is very hard work and if your grass lawn in big.. it might not be feasible to do it manually...
4) Buy some epson salt. and introduce it together with your fetilizer when you grass turns a little yellow. I typically add a little once every month.. dont over do it...on a about 8m x 10m plot. I add about 3-4 table spoon. but I think there are instruction on some of the package.
Good luck.and I live in Singapore and the weather here is tropical.. no 4 seasons...
Go get some bags of "Sulphate of Ammonia" or "Ammonium Sulphate" and spread it on your lawn per packaged instructions. Then, water it in really, really good immediately after applying it! Then, just give it a good watering every day for about 2 weeks. By about the 3rd week, you'll have such thick and dark green grass that you'll have to mow it twice a week just to keep up... guaranteed!
This only works in the sunny months of the year... sunshine and water!
FIRST REMOVE ALL OF THE OLD GRASS AND WEEDS, BRING IN ABOUT 3: OF NEW TOP SOIL TO COVER ENTIRE AREA. SEED THE AREAS WITH A GOOD GRASS SEED COMMON TO YOUR AREA OF THE COUNTRY. NOW HERE'S THE MOST IMPORTANT PART
