The best way to kill catus?

Question:I live in North Dakota, my yard is infested with prickly pear catus. What is the best way to get rid of them?

Answers:
We had an enclosed area with cactus in it. After one too many pricks I decided to declare war on it and dug it up and pulled it out. The stuff spreads like wildfire so you have to get each piece off the ground, it will take root and grow if you leave it laying on the ground after pulling it up.
I would suggest seeing what the most environmentally safe way to get rid of them would be, maybe talk to a local agriculture agent?
I thought of pouring boiling water on the roots if any cactus reappeared this year, fortunately I seemed to have gotten rid of ours.

Try salt water!
dog droppings works nicely, as does skin pus. sounds weird, but it actually works, for the acidity of the dog fecees and pus is just the right pH to destroy the cactus stomata
hm...good queston well you could get huge boots and step on them... i have a small one and its deleket lol or you could get some type of poisen... idk i never had to kill anybefore so if they are small or big use big heavy boots and step on them if that dones not work use some sort of a tool that can pull it up and throw it somewhere thats my best awser =D good luck
keep the ground really wet cause catuses are plants that dont need water.
Thats wat i heard
herbicide and/or machete
