What should i do?
Question:dont have AC. dont have a fan. it 83 degrees. cant sleep. i tried cracking a window. didnt help. cold showers dont seem to do much. now im sweating. how can i cool my house down? all lights are off. all shades on windows are closed. no sunlight is getting in our house. so why am i still hot? i cant sleep with 83 degrees. even if im naked, i still cant sleep. help!

Martin over on the other thread is right -- you should get off the computer. Computers generate heat. So do light bulbs.
Take a nice, cool bath for about a half an hour. If you don't have a bath, try a foot bath, and running your wrists under cold water.
Or is there an all-night pool you could visit?
This has always intrigued me: I once saw a picture of a heatwave in Lincoln Nebraska in the 50s, and it had hundreds of people sleeping on the Capitol Lawn! Boy, try sleeping in the park today -- you'd get mugged, or arrested.
But if you have a lawn, you could try setting up a tent and sleeping outside at night until the heat wave passes. Or heck, just drive out and go camping somewhere every night. It's got to be cooler out in the country than it is in the city!

Sleep low to the ground and turn a fan on. It won't cool your house to a comfy 70 degrees. But it should help some.
You can purchase fans for under $15 at Walmart and Target. If you have no fan, hang damp sheets over the open windows and the breezes will cool the house down a little. You can also wrap up in a damp, not wet, sheet or put a cool wet towel around your neck.
By the way, asking this question 10 times isn't going to cool off the house any more! Go ahead and delete all your questions and go to bed!
The damp sheet is a great idea. I have used that one myself. Another idea is to sleep outside on a trampoline if you have one. They are comfy and you get the air from the top and bottom. Good luck I know trying to sleep in the heat is miserable.
