My MIL grows watermelon in a greenhouse, but this might still help you. She puts black plastic around the roots area (this helps keep the plant warm, and it keeps the weeds from growing). Then, after you get two watermelon babies, ruthless cut the rest off. That way, the plant will put all it's energy into growing two big sweet early watermelons, rather than five or six little ones.
If you have room, put in another watermelon or two. Can never have too many watermelon, I say.
no
plenty of sun and dont forget the cow shhhhhhhh, and of course water, wonderful water
When the Watermelon grows keep it off the ground so it dont rott on the bottom. It is a vine plant, so u have to let it grow out. But when u c a watermelon slide something under it little piece of plywood or newspaper is ok but u got to change it alot couple times a week.
Just water your watermelon plant like a regular plant it will be fine I have grown lots of ground fruit like; strawberries, melons, cucumbers, and even yams. Let the watermelon grow natural just live't in the ground it will be fine just try not to scratch the outer shell or other wise your watermelon wont look as nice as you want to, nothing will happen but if you want a nice watermelon to eat during the summer with your son make your watermelon look nice and fresh and don't forget the camera to take a picture that day. Good luck!
