Brown grass...help?

Question:I applied a fertilizer on the lawn that was supposed to make my grass greener...and it worked, but in a few areas the grass turned brown...will it turn green again or is it dead?
please help!

Answers:
From what you described it sounds like you may have caused a little bit of fertilizer burn in a couple of areas. Look to see if there is an abnormal amount of fertilizer granules in these brown areas. If so, then yes you have burned the lawn. It will not come back in these areas any time soon. Best thing to do is to wait for a couple weeks after all the fertilizer has been watered in well (especially in the brown areas) and get a bag of grass seed that is similar to your type, be it Kentucky Blue Grass, Fescue, Bent, Rye, etc. Or maybe you have a warm season grass. Which ever it is, take a hard rake and scratch up these areas real good. Really rough up the soil and loosen it up somewhat. Hand sow the seed in these areas and don't be too chinsy with the amount. Cover the whole area that is brown.
Lightly tamp the seed with your shoes to give it a better contact with the soil. Take a bag of potting soil and hand sprinkle about 1/4 inch over top of the seed. Water these spots with a fine misting hose nozzle so as not to wash away the seed and potting mix. Keep it moist for about 7-14 days depending on the germination time of the seed. Sometimes this may mean watering it twice a day if it dries out. You want to keep it wet until it germinates if possible. Hope this answers your question.

help? you shouldnt need help cutting it, and yes it will def. turn back green
just water it really well, and if you want it back quickly just get a small bag of seed and sprinkle it on the brown areas and water well and it will be back with-in a week or so.
Water would be the most obvious choice. You could have sod web worms. A 4 oz dose of permithren will clear that right up.
