Where is a safe place to locate transformer for pond light?

Question:The transformer says to locate in a weather proof area but the cord is so short from transformer to light and pond is in back of back yard. I burried one in the dirt (not enclosed in anything) and it lasted about a month. I need a better way of doing it this time.

Answers:
You can buy valve boxes for sprinkler valves at the Depot or if you are a cheap Bast@rd like me, get an old plastic flower pot, snap off the water saucer on the bottom and drill a bunch of holes there. Then snap the saucer back on. Put the transformer on a brick and flip that pot upside down over the transformer and cover the whole shebang with some rocks
that you removed to make room for the contraption.
It will be nicely ventilated, dry And Cheap!

It should be housed in a weatherproof plastic box that you can pick up at a home improvement store and it will last longest above ground.
First, locate the transformer in a weatherproof area as instructed, then run conduit to pool light and make connections in a weatherproof box.Joe
