Answers:
SORRY I DISAGREE WITH SHARRY, THE TREE IS PROBABLY WORTH ALOT! CONTACT A LOCAL HARD WOOD COMPANY, OR LOCAL LOGGERS OR SAWMILL! THE WOOD ITSELF IS WHAT THEY WANT AND SHOULD REMOVE IT STUMP & ALL! CHERRY IS ONE THE MOST VALUED OF HARD WOODS!
Ah man I wish I could have one down here in NC. Those are my favorite cherry trees, worth the wine colored stains all over your mouth and hands!!
Check with your local nurseries and see if they will work out a consignment deal with you. They might even dig it up and bind it for you if you give them enough of the purchase price.
sorry but with a tree that tall in new york it not worth much because it would cost too much too call some one to pull out the tree just right so that the roots would not be damaged. sorry.
best of luck. ttyl :D
Most loggers wary of trees in inhabited areas because of possible metal embedded in the tree. A single nail can destroy a saw blade worth thousands of dollars. If you do get someone to look at it they will probably scan it with a metal detector to be sure. A large diameter cherry with no side branches the first 8-10 feet could be worth thousands as a veneer log. Even if it's of no use to a large mill, you might find someone with a bandsaw mill interested in it for furniture making. There blades are only a few hundred bucks. RScott
