My Tomatoes are getting large black spots on the bottom tip. What can be done to stop this.?
Question:
Answers:
It's blossom end rot and is caused by two factors that feed off of each other, uneven watering and a lack of calcium.
It's not that there isn't any Calcium in the soil, it's more that the plants cant take it in due to a number of factors, including heat stress, too much nitrogen, and the above mentioned uneven watering. Making sure your tomatoes are mulched will help with the uneven moisture levels.
There is a great e-book available on our website that has more information than you thought existed on tomatoes.
