Heirloom Tomatoes & Bumps on Branches?

Question:1 of my heirloom tomato plants has bumps on the underside of the lower branches. The leaves are curling, the flowers are dying and the tomatoes that are already started do not seem to be growing like the other unaffected plants. Does anyone know what this is, what is causing it, and how I can get rid of it? Will it spread to my other plants?

Answers:
I noticed some bumps on the underside of my tomato branches as well, but they were from the plant not being staked prperly and it was simply the plant sucking more materials from the soil through those bumps (sort of the way it does through the roots). My plants, however, were otherwise healthy. Perhaps the problem isn't related to the bumps. Are you feeding the plant properly (maybe it's lacking nutrients)? Does the plant have proper drainage? Other tomtato plants I've had were weak due to poor drainage. Also, if the whole pant is weaking (stem and all) it could be too much water. Also, a lot of pesticides/herbicides are too potent and could burn the plant, have you used any recently?

Aphids, often mistaken for garden or tomato lice. The best solution is to get rid of the plants. Next is a systemic herbicide which will render the tomatoes not fit for consumption but the seeds are still viable.
