Snow white wild mushrooms...safe to eat?
Question:Rainy weather has caused a lot of snowy white mushrooms to grow in the grass in my back yard. How can I find out if they are safe to eat?

This is a serious Q. You can't ever trust wild mushrooms with out an expert training. . there are so many small differences in gill and stem structure. I can give you sites, but before you try to eat ANY, you must fully understand the structure and nomenclature of fungi. You must look at enough different types of mushrooms for it to make sense to you.
Your old granny may have been an expert gatherer, but if she moved a hundred miles away, she might poison the whole family picking something she thought was the same.

Hell noooo! Only because you don't know what it is . There are so many white mushrooms , that it could be anywhere from " delicious" to "deadly " , or both . You need to learn from an actual person, or three . Check with a local college . Course would probably be in the fall . No reference material is complete , & pictures/drawings can be misleading, so you definitely need "hands on" instruction.
That said , it sounds like Fairy Ring mushrooms .
do yourself a big favour
if you want mushrooms
buy them from a store
free found mushrooms
have violently killed people in the past
some can cause a slow agonising coma then death
NO... Never .
Those are toadstools; they're NOT good to eat. Never eat a mushroom unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure that they are non-poisonous. The vast majority of mushrooms are not edible; stick to the ones you buy at a grocery store, or talk with someone from the local mycological society about learning the good from the bad. Be warned, however, that it's a time-consuming process. Unless you're into a bit of botany and biology, it's going to be a lot easier to stick with buying yours from the store.
You can only feel safe about eating mushrooms if you bought them at teh grocery store. Don't take chances, please. Even photo-id guides can be deceptive
if that mushroom has a ring in it that is surely poisonous.
Don't ever eat any wild mushroom unless you are an expert and know what you are doing.
I echo the sentiment...not safe.
