Are lilacs good companion plants for roses?

Question:

Answers:
I am unsure of what you are saying about companion plants. I do know that my garden has lilacs and roses. A very pretty combination for a traditional garden or Victorian garden. It reminds me of my childhood and my grandmother's garden. Lilacs come in many varieties and should be researched. They also only bloom once a year. That is why having roses to look at, will bring you joy the rest of the summer, when the lilacs are out of bloom. Good Luck!

I don't see why not. They both enjoy full sun. I have a Miss Kim Korean lilac next to a floribunda and they both work beautifully together. Just make sure to give them both enough room for growing. Lilacs can get up to 10' high & wide over time.
Yes they are, it really gives my flower garden WOW!
Lilacs are much taller and do not need the 6 hours of sun the roses need. It depends on the sun or shade of the spots where you are going to plant and of course the color of those roses.
The mood of the garden is usually defined by the plants and colors. For example yellow and purple is happy, lavender and white, romantic, etc...
lilacs prefer a moderately rich garden soil with a fairly high lime content. They can sucker if their roots are disturbed, so best not to plant them too closely to your roses which are fertilised regularly and have their soil turned. Keep them wide enough apart so each does not affect the other.
