What is a fast growing shade tree for North Texas area?

Question:

Answers:
There is a type of elm tree called Lacebark Elm or another cultivar called Drake Elm that are good for the north Texas soils. These trees are fast growing without the attacks of elm leaf beetle and other dutch elm disease. You should be able to find them at most retailers.

Be careful of fast growers, they usually have weak root systems. Just have it away from the house.
