Goodluck!
Very easy.Get a seed of the caripatta(even small plants of caripatta grow seed at the top of the stem of the plant.Take a seed which has turn black from green and put it in a ppot with soil mixed with crumbs of cut and dried wood or best use dried coconut. After planting the seed water it everyday.Once the plant starts growing to a 1foot,then u can give some chemical fertilazer 16-16-16.Thats all.I have about 200 of them grown in pots and in Thailand.
Curry leaf plant (Murraya Koenigi) grows well in pots. Does not bother about soil too. However, a well draining soil is to be preferred.Seems to like slightly acidic soil.
In south India people add some sour curds to the water once in a fortnight. Some people have a superstition against growing this plant in the house.
It does not do well in the shade. Better full sun.
Although not difficult to grow from seed, best option is to get a well established sapling from a garden centre/nursery or pinch one from a friend.Keep in full sun.If u live in a very cold climate then make sure it does not get caught up in frost. It usually does well with regular but not over watering and a good dose of sunlight.Best of luck.
