How do I rid or prevent or anyhting japanese beatles from destroying my trees?
Question:We have just planted three new trees. They are doing great, however, I have just noticed that they are all covered in japanese beatles. It there any home remedy or anything that works to kill, get rid of, or prevent them from destoying our new trees? In that past we have used those traps, but they only seemed to make them worse by attracting more to our yard. Please help!!

Japanese beetles come from grubs. You need to apply grub control to your lawn in order to prevent the grubs from becoming beetles.
The traps will only make the situation worse, encourage your neighbors to put up traps, but don't do it yourself. You want the beetles to leave your yard.
For the beetles you have, suggest that you spray with something like sevin.
Don't use the traps. They attract more beetles than they kill. You need to use a spray containing Sevin.
I know it is too late for this year, but in the future I would suggest applying something that contains the active ingredient "Imidacloprid". Bayer Advanced sells this under the name of Tree and Shrub Insect Treatment". With this stuff you just mix it with water and apply to the soil under the tree, you don't have to spray the leaves. The bad news is that it takes about 10 days for the insecticide to make it from the roots up into the leaves where it kills insects that feed on the leaves. I have been using for several years and I swear by it.
