I'd like to have an herbal window box. My window gets much sun, & is very hot in summer. What should I grow?

Question:I live in Central California in the San Joaquin Valley, which unfortunately, seems to be undergoing a perpetual drought. I would also like subtly fragrant (like sandalwood or sage), but can grow in a window box easily.

Answers:
Aromatic herbs grow naturally in exposed land therefore can withstand direct sunlight.
Here's a small selection of easy to grow aromatic plants in sun and heat:
Mint (Mentha), Basil (Basilicum), Salva, Capucine (bright flowers and leaves can be used in salads as well), There is also a kind of Pelargonium which is knows for its aromatic leaves but its flowers are small.

Rosemary, sage, marjoram oregano. Any that grow in the Mediterranean should grow where you live.
you should grow lavender and rosemary as they dont require much watering plus they release a pleasent scent
