Still working on iron bed frame?

Question:I have been doing the sanding with coarse to fine steel wool. It seems fairly smooth. Question is how do I "polish/buff" to make sure all of the small grit is off before I paint? Using a "rustoleum" oil based, do I need to fine sand between coats? Any other hints would be appreciated, email me at sajaru316@yahoo.com thanks

Answers:
Have repaired a number of iron beds .
A simple wipe down w/ a degreasing solvent will do it.
Consider using an auto primer which can be lightly sanded between coats.
Any pitting will show up better & if necessary filled w/ bondo or auto spotting putty.
Use several thin coats of Rustoleum ( or even auto paint ) to finish .
OK to use wet/dry sandpaper or fine bronze wool in between coats.
Had spray gear at the time but found the auto primer & paint in spraycans worked very well .
Best regards

To clean the grit off after sanding simply wipe it down with a sovent damp lint free cloth. The paint can should give you instructions on sanding, time required, etc. between coats.
