Resurfacing patio with paint question.?

Question:Our house has a patio deck off of second floor. The floor surface appears to be standard asphalt/roof paper construction with sand-like coating. It looks to be in good condition but needs a coat of paint. Is there a paint or resurfacing material which I can buy and apply myself? Does anyone have experience with this type of project and what do you recommend? Need to get this done in a day... Thanks

Certainly there are finishes used for Roofing type materials, and my concern would be to find something that will react favorably with the chemical substance of what's on your deck.

Possibly something epoxy based, or an oil based finish. I doubt anything latex would work.

I might suggest a small quantity of your choice in a small area first, as a test.
