The landlord has an obligation to get rid of them for you.Call them tonight, and get a pest service out to take care of them.In the mean time, cockroaches won't stay where there is no food. Children eat at the table only,no walkng around with food or bottles.Hand wash bibs and clothes that have food on them,so there is no food remnants to entice them.Wash dishes immediately, wipe all counters and tables.Take your trash out before going to bed everynight.Sweep and vacuum daily. and put all food items that are in cardboard, plastic bags or paper bags into glass jars.Things like pasta and flour, rice, sugar, etc.Make sure you vacuum out the cupboards to get any food bits out of the corners. You can also tape all the electrical boxes.Roaches can come from other apartments. They will get in the walls and pop out around the plugs and switches. If you tape the gaps, you can keep them out.

Clean and dry thoroughly inside all kitchen and bath cabinets and along the baseboards. Get a box of 20 mule team Borax. NOT Borateem. (find this in the laundry section at the grocery). Open the box and take a plastic spoon, scoop out a level spoonful or a little less. Carefully place a thin line of borax along the edges of all your cabinets, baseboards, under the sink and in bottom cabinets, tipping the spoon and tapping gently to sprinkle the powder. This is a bit tedious but it is a cheap and effective way to get rid of the bugs permanently. The important thing to remember is place the borax on a clean, DRY surface and if the powder gets damp or wet, clean it up with a wet cloth, dry area and re-apply. Bugs should disappear within a few days to a week.
shoes.
I agree with Gracie, except put it in one of those squeeze mustard bottles that they sell at the dollar store, for easy application. If you can, set off a couple of bug balms and spend the entire day at the zoo or the park, or even Grandma's. You'll have lots of cleaning to do when you get home
The posters that talk about Borax are right...
And you will want to stop new roaches from getting in as well. While you are under the cabinets...caulk any openings that you find...Around incoming pipes and any holes in the wall...
If the landlord won't help, and someone like orkin or another exterminater is too expensive, try calling the local building department and make a complaint and keep after them. there is no easy way to get rid of roaches unless the whole building is done.
reclean the house ,walls, floors, every think cause they 'the bugs' can't stand clean stuff clean clean .Fredf
