What Air conditioner fits a push-out window (bottom pushes out while top is attached)?

Question:My window is very wide and has a push-out style, so the sides are open as well as the bottom.

Answers:
You could use a portable air conditioner and only have to install the exhaust duct in the window opening.

You would need to cut plywood or other rigid material to fit the window frame and then mount the exhaust duct in a hole cut into the panel. You could even cut some clear or translucent material lke plexiglass to size and cut a hole in it to fit the shape of the exhaust duct fiitting. Then you would still be able to see out of the window or at least get some light through it.

In a pinch you could just cut cardboard to fit, but that will not last as long as something more rigid and less susceptible to moisture damage.

You can get portable A/C units at places like Sears, home repair centers, hardware stores and online such as the link below.

u can put rac box type as long as u dont plan on using window by screwing window shut. if renting i would remove glass fit ac and put perspex around which can be bought at most hardwares or cut to size at boat building places(used to make there windows) bit of silicone and angle bobs ur uncle i have put hundreds in . fujitsu is good quiet brand or samsung for value for money.if not renting cut glass and fit should cost 100 to 150
You have an awning style window. This type of window pivots on sliding pins on the side, so the top of the window drops down an inch or so while the bottom swings out on small arms located on the side. You will have to remove the entire bottom window pane. This will allow you to install the a/c unit, since you say the window is wider than normal, you may find the accordion like extensions on the side of the air conditioner do not meet all the way to the window sides (jambs). If so you may have to cut a piece of plywood to fill the void left. If possible also put a piece of rigid insulation in back of the plywood, if you really want it to look pretty, even glue some fabric on the back of this insulation so it will look good from the inside.
This type of window is usually shorter in height than a typical double hung window, so you may have to get an a/c unit that is shorter in height.
