If you chang a 10 seer a/c out with a 13 seer a/c do you have to change the 'a; coil?

Question:to change the A "coil" or just the piston in the high side

Answers:
The A-Coil and condensing unit Seer Rating should match. It is not 100% necessary BUT by not also replaceing the A-coil the 13 seer condensing unit will not cool to its designed capability and the life expectancy of the condensing unit will also be shortened.

My advice is to change the a-coil so that you can take advantage of the lower energy cost to cool your home AND the condensing unit will also have a longer life.

Hope this helps

Dave

YES if you want maximum efficiency. It would also be less costly to do it all at once. If you wait and have the A Coil installed at another time the cost will be greater. You should also make sure the copper lines from the A Coil are sized properly for the new 13 SEER unit.
