Air Compressor Thingy?
Question:So obviously i'm a girl and dunno too much about air compressors and junk like that...
I wanna go swimming really bad but I need to blow up my raft to float around on :]
I've tried blowing it up (oh boy am I outta breath) but...that's going to take foreverrrr.
I wanted to used my dad's air compressor but the little needle thing isn't hooked up on it and that's the only thing I need for it, so i've spent almost an hour trying to figure out how to hook the damn thing on! lol
Could someone please
and I mean please explain to me in stupid terms (notice I've used the word "thing" a lot lol cuz i hardly know what i'm talking about) how to get this needle on to the hose thingy
Thank you for your time,
-frustrated and confused

You need a needle thingy to blow up your raft ...like the needle thing for inflating sports balls? Nah. Honey all you need is the air gun thingy, that is what I use to inflate my raft instead of trying to blow it up.
First the hose end (quick release) is metal and the outer ring of this end has to be pulled back for the air tool to be inserted into it and release the ring and feel the tool snap or lock into place. If you do need to use a needle thingy put a tire chuck on the end of the hose and insert the needle into the object and inflate like you are filling a tire. Be careful you can get carried away and put too much air into something quickly and it will pop.
Look at the picture in the link the thingy at the top is an air spraygun. at the bottom right is the tire chuck thingy for filling tires and you see in the middle of the bottom row things used for filling basketballs and the like.
Good luck I hope that this works for you. You could always ask the nice guys at the home depot near you to show you what they have that would do that and how it works then thank them for their time and go home and see if you have the matching things.
There should be a " thingy " on the end of the hose. On the back of it is a little metal, or plastic, lever. Flip that up..so that it is extending out. Stick the needle in the other end..then flip the little lever down again. That's what holds the needle in place. Have fun. : )
Does the "needle thingy" have threads on it.by threads I mean the little raised lines like on a screw? If it does, look inside the nozzle for the air compressor, it may just screw inside the end.
If not, and I have done this. Hold the hose and the float valve in your hand at the same time, squeezing tight enough to make a seal for the air to go through and turn the compressor on. May not be the perfect way, but it will work.
Save yourself all the heartaches. Make a photo of your air-compressor hose where your going to use the needle. Also, the connection where hose and compressor is located.
Than take it to Lowes or Home Depot, they have everything there to help you make it work. Sizing is very Critical !
Any simple explaination "DON'T" exist, unless you did one before.
You need an adapter piece to connect the inflator thingy to a hand (thumb) controlled air release attachment. ? Whaaaat?
Or take your hose and the other parts you have to Home Depot or similar and they will supply you with the missing parts to complete your job.
There.Done.
Does the hose have a "disconnect" on the end? it's usually brass or chrome with a knurled collar, pull the collar down, away from the nozzle and the nozzle should pop off. The hose should have a female opening, and the nozzle or inflator should have a male fitting, put the two together, pull down on the disconnect collar again and push the inflator into the fitting, release the collar, if the nozzle pops off, do it again, if it stays on, your in business.
If I were you I would buy one of those foot pumps to blow it up, because a compressor can blow it up so fast that you pop it.. It dosen't take much air pressure to pop it. You can buy one at any sporting store..
