How do you make a pin cushion??

Question:whats the stuff in side?

Answers:
Use a bar of soap. Points won't rust, and they slide in easily.

Bend over, I'll show you. LOL. Anyway, usually a thick cotton stuffing is used in pincushions. Dense so the needles and pins won't go all the way thru it easily. Tightly packed, too.
Take a small piece of material...fell with cotton and use a string to tie with.
Actually, I'm looking at mine right now & its stuffed with sand! I guess you just sew a pouch, leave a tiny opening, pour the sand in & hand sew the opening closed. It's almost an antique, & I've never had to repair it.
Most the older ones and some new ones are filled with sand. This helps sharpen the pins when they are stuck into the cushion. Cut a section of material, fill it with sand and sew it up.
