How do I remove the the inner pole from my extendable curtain pole?

Question:I have bought an stainless steel extendable curtain pole but the inner pole appears to be stuck! At one end it seems to be held in place by some plastic inbetween the two poles.

Answers:
Try these,
knock it on a book resting on the floor,
try to flick it out in a whip action, dangerous.
put it between hands and rub as if starting a fire with sticks.
take finial from opposite end and try to push out with wooden spoon.
rest above your gas/elec fire to warm up then try above.
