How to install a ice maker in a kenmore refrigerator?
Question:

Are you looking to connect the line from the water source to refridge? If so, the go to your home improvement store, such as Sears or Home Depot, and buy a ice maker installation kit. It usually includes a piercing saddle valve and 10 ft of line with fittings. The main question is where do you have your water source? Is it a copper line? If so then you can use the saddle valve to pierce the copper. Then attach the line from the valve to the refridge. Otherwise, it there is an existing valve just attach the line from the valve to the refridge.
By the way, some newer refrigerators come with a water filter to remove sediment, or you can also include an in line water filter to remove any sediment that may be in your water.
The ice maker should have vey complete installation instructions.just make sure your fridge is compatible.
I would not install an ice maker or buy a fridge with one.
Consider the water supply for a moment. You will have a line of water going to the fridge in which water will sit and stagnate in the pipe while it waits to be sent to the ice maker, which will not happen that frequently (unless you plan to use a lot of ice every day). If you were going to drink tap water, wouldnt you run the water for several second before filling the glass, especially first thing in the morning when the water has been sitting in the pipes all night? Well there is no way to "run" the water to the ice machine. Also, how are you going to clean this ice machine of yours? Think of all the deposits and gunk that will build up in there?
If you dont believe me, go to a friend or familys home where they have an icemaker, then take some of their ice and put it in a glass, then melt it in a microwave and then look closely at the water. You will see all kinds of deposits in there. Do you really want to drink this? I suggest you make ice the old fashioned way in trays, or buy ice . It is normally very clean.
