silver stains because when it is exposed to the environment,sulphates and oxides accumulate over it and this causes the brownish colour.this phenomenon is called corrosion. it's just like iron getting rusted because of moisture.want to know more about how silver stains occur and other stuff?

The oxygen in the air chemically combines with it, like rust on iron or steel.
because silver reacts with air to form corroding silver nitrate.
Silver atrracts Positive ions in the air and it will tarnish Silver as the chemical reaction occurs.
If you store your Silver wrap it up in foil and it won' tarnish.
