Why does silver stain?

The oxygen in the air chemically combines with it, like rust on iron or steel.
because silver reacts with air to form corroding silver nitrate.
Silver atrracts Positive ions in the air and it will tarnish Silver as the chemical reaction occurs.

If you store your Silver wrap it up in foil and it won' tarnish.
