Air Rifle Rust?

Question:Hi, my dad just recently gave me a air rifle that hasnt seen the light of day in about 20 years, and as you can imagine the gun is very rusty. I told my dad I would clean it up as a bit of a project, but im having trouble removing all of the rust. The gun isnt brown anymore but where i have managed to get it back to its orginal silver colour there are still lots of black patchs. I was wondering if there is an easier way to get it cleaner?! or just continue with the wire wool and brasso (which is killing me) Really apreciate an answer! thanks

Otters company makes special cleaners for weapons (rifles, pistols, air rifles). You can purchase these products from walmart or kmart sporting goods section. They actual make a product to clean rust from the metal. Talk with the sporting goods person in the store, they have a working knowledge of whats out there and available.
Always follow the directions for safety reasons, some of these chemicals are pretty strong.
