Is it possible to make a key from a mold?

Question:I have a bunch of locks but I lost the master key. I have a mold of it, but is it possible to make a key from it?

Answers:
Using what is called a code machine, and knowingthe name brand of the locks, a locksmith can easily make a key from a photocopy. If your mold is life-size and has good enough detail, it shouldn't be a problem.

On the other hand, a locksmith should be able to make a key from just the lock.

I've seen it done on tv, but I wouldn't want to chance it. I suggest you have a locksmith come over and see if they could solve your problem. You can find them in the yellow pages of your phone book.
A locksmith with a little more than usual skill will be able to make one but will take some time to figure out which blank to use and cut the key so that it works well. There will be some trial and error.
