How do I use incense?
Question:I only have a stick thing thats supposed to be incese, how do I use it? do I just light it on fire and wait?

With all due respect; certainly to you and others who answer; I'll ask...what is your purpose?
I have no idea where you are; how old; or what your 4th of July experiences might be, but Incense can be equated to a "Punk"... In that you light it, allow it to glow, blow out the flame, and then let the scent fill the immediate area.
The purposes vary widely from the very spiritual, to masking odors in a room/area, that might be offensive.
You can either purchase a specific "Burner" holder or stick or STICK incense/CONE, or use a piece of tile; a flat stone; and old pie pan; an ash tray; etc.
Yes, light one end and wait until the tip is glowing and then blow the flame out (or it will burn up in 10 seconds). Then stick it in a potted plant or somewhere safe, and enjoy.

Light the end and let it burn for 5 to 10 seconds. Blow out the flame and it will produce scented smoke. Position in a safe place because the ashes will fall off as it burns.
It depends on what type you have. There are the 'stick' type and the 'cone' type.
The stick type have these special bottles for them as the holder, I never bothered with the holder and just held it or laid it in a glass ashtray ( yea I smoke).
The cone style you can get many different types of burners for them. The most famous is the old chinese man - I guess its supposed to be 'confusious' there is a tray where you place the lit cone until it is burnt to an ash - then empty it.
To lite it you just light the tip with a lighter until it is obviously burning. Then set it in the tray.
The cones come in various aromas - a mood thingy I think.
Of course there are the insense powders too. And they have their own burners also, and oil insense with their own burners.
Essentially, you need to look around at one of the sites that sell this stuff to see what is out there and what is required for each type.
For the two most popular though, and to your question. You just light them with fire until they begin to burn (moments). Then place them in a burner until they are finished.
