Does anyone know if i can thin oil based deck stain? and could you tell me what i could use to do so?

Question:i was staining my deck and the stain started to get very thick, and i dont know if using thinner or mineral spirits would harm the stain or damage my deck.
i would really appreciate and answer if anyone knows.

Answers:
Unless the instructions on the stain container tell you not to use a thinner, then you are OK. The instructions may even tell you what type of thinner to use. If they don't then mineral spirits should do the trick. Thinners will not harm the wood. They will evaporate.

ALTHOUGH YOU SHOULD NOT THIN STAIN DOWN, YES YOU CAN DO IT , WITH EITHER PAINT THINNER OR TURPENTINE..BUT DON'T THIN IT TOO MUCH..
