I am looking for the protective shoulder pads that one would use when packing rebar. Any ideas?

Question:Our son has started working in rebar and his shoulders are taking a beating!!

Answers:
Try using welder's "cape Sleeves" or buy a reflective mesh safety vest and attach leather to the shoulders. I checked all my safety supply catalogs and couldn't find anything with shoulder pads. The cape sleeves should work. Go to a welder's supply store and check them out. $30-$35.

I've never noticed shoulder pads at a lumber yard or do it yourself center. But, just because I've never seen them doesn't mean they don't have them.
Look first at a lumber yard/do it yourself center. If they don't carry them, try footbal pads. (I borrow my sons when I need pads).
Hopefully you're not working in high temps. Padding in hot weather gets miserable fast!
try sewing a piece of leather in his shirt or buying a welders jacket if its not to hot for it.
