What do I do? I don't want use an extension lead but I need to lengthen the lead to my treadmill?

Question:Can any bright spark help me please?

And no I cannot buy a new longer lead, special sealed unit on the plug that goes into the treadmill>

Answers:
If the special plug going into your treadmill is sealed, then it sounds like you can't just fit a longer flex.

But do go to electrical shops and places like Maplin (in the U.K.) and see if in fact those special plugs are available as loose non-sealed units that you can put a flex into (kettle leads are available like this, although the one you get with your kettle is always sealed - again U.K. specific).

If nothing is possible, then I suggest you use an in-line plug and socket arrangement instead of your standard plug (like the ones you can get for lawnmowers and hedgetrimmers). Then you can make any length of lead to go from the in-line socket to your wall socket.

This is still technically an extension lead, but as the plug/socket are in-line, it is much less bulky and obtrusive.

Hi Glorious.
get yourself down to a DIY store (Wilkinsons is best, if none then Poundstretchers, most biggish cheap stores - if all else fails, B&Q or equivalent.)
They sell cable. You will need the equivalent to what you already have, which ought to be a standard 3-core (blue, brown and green/yellow inside).
Cut yourself a length as appropriate, but round up to the nearest metre above what you think you need. Colour match the cable, black and white should both be available.
They will also sell a connector box, roughly rectangular at 3 inches long by an inch wide and usually white, for splicing cables safely.
If you don't have them already, buy a screwdriver set.
Back home, unplug the exercise bike.
Take off the three pin plug that goes into the wall, using the screwdrivers.
Now use the connector box to join your new length of cable to the existing cable, again with screwdriver.
Reattach the plug to your new cable end point as it was before.
Done!
Good luck, Steve.
PS sorry if this is over simplistic, but I wasn't sure what level was required so played safe. What I am suggesting is the safest and most reliable method that won't break the bank - this way, when you wish to ove or sell the device, you can reverse the extension process and have it pristine again.
Hire an electrician to put a new outlet in the wall next to the treadmill. That should only cost a thousand dollars or so. I'd get the ten-dollar extension cord or move the treadmill to where the power is. Or just go outside and walk.
too much hassle... just make yourself an extension and away you go. "plug, socket, cable. DONE".as Gordon would say.
It is not legal to splice a cord. So that takes care of that silly answer. Extension cords are perfectly legal and safe for temporary use, such as with a treadmill or a hand tool ect. Make sure the extension cord is a heavy duty type and not a small lamp type. Unplug it when not in use and don't hide it under the carpet. A new, longer cord can be installed by someone who knows how if you wish.
You want to be safe and have the knowledge you are safe. The only logical answer to your problem is simple. Have an electrician come in and install another outlet for this device that is near to device itself. Since it is already operating in that room and there is no problem, he should be able to "Tap the power from another outlet or wall switch in that room" so he can run your outlet.

Then you'll have no concerns if it was done right, can you leave your home or will it burn to the ground while you're gone. It will probably cost about $80.00 USD to do this, but it is safe.
Move treadmill nearer outlet
