Paint Sprayer - Use linseed oil for storage?

Question:A neighbor of mine recently said that he runs linseed oil into his airless paint sprayer to keep it from getting clogged while it's not being used. Does anyone have any info on whether this is a good idea? Could it potentially hurt the sprayer?

Answers:
If it is properly cleaned after use, it should not need anything in it. He is probably talking about keeping moving parts lubricated (he just doesn't know it). This does not need to be done either.
