Spray painting?
Question:Does anyone have good experiences with a powered spray gun, if so which one did you use. I have a lot of trim that I will be cutting and installing and would like to spray it first.
Answers:
Great idea painting first. Makes job alot easier. An airless will cost you a couple of hundred dollars. If you own an air compressor, you can buy a cup gun or gravity feeder gun for considerably less; around 20 to 100 dollars for what you are doing. Have to thin latex quite a bit with water to work. But it will work.
Since you are painting first, just set up a couple of sawhorses up and a good quality trim brush like a Purdy and lay it on. I thin it down a bit with water so it pulls better.(brush does not drag when paint dries too fast) Keep wet edge and you wont see brush strokes. Your gonna have to break out the brush to touch up after filling nail holes and caulking anyway. I would do that to save money, Or I would buy other stuff to have new toys. Nothin wrong with new toys.
Test it first to make sure you have the proper setting for the spray to do the job you want done.
This way you can't goof.
a 1 time projected . i would go to Sherwin Williams and buy the small airless they have on sale right now . for 299.00 us dollars its small but big enough for your job.
its all about the tip .. u will be wanting the green 410 fine finish tip (make sure its green) if not make them order you 1
If i still had my spray outfit I'd use it, but find spraycans to give an excellent prime coat.
Have you considered getting primed finger joined trim?
Probably the easiest way to go.
Cheaper than solid, is straighter, & paints up well.
Best regards
