I assuming you want to put shelves in your garage. If your garage isn't finished (is just cinder block walls) you'll have to attach them shelving systems w/ concrete anchors (available home store) if not (studs w/ dry wall) then you should be able to attach the shelving, depending upon how much weight you expect to put on these you may have to purchase special anchors/screws (for dry wall support). You just have to find the studs (use a stud finder) and attached any anchors/screws to the studs. If you have any problems talk to person at your local home store they should be able to show you products and explain anything you don't understand.
I got a free standing rack of shelves, almost like a backless bookcase, at Home Depot, so I would'nt have to fasten anything to the walls (a rented house).
Do you mean shelves? If you do, take a measurement of the wall area to be shelved and count the height of each shelf level 6',12' etc. Pre-build the shelf units and screw in the back material to the garage walls. If you want to get self standing shelves you may want to wire the side boards to the wall, in case of earthquakes.

Depends on the kinds of shelves you want. if you own the place and want somewhere to store lots of tools there are usually good shelving compartments at automotive stores that tell you how to assemble them. If you want just something to display trophies or something any metal easy assemble book case will do. Or you can make them just be sure to have as many bracers as possible and make absolutely sure you're drilling with wood screws into the studs. i aslo recomend using metal above wood because in a damp dark place like a garage wood will rot
