Natural nails seem to be harder then some of the acrylics I have tried. My manicurist recommends those things that come in a long tube that you put into some weird looking gun type thing and the best thing is you can use them to hang wall-board-even your mother-in- law.Given that=hire a pro!

To install vinyl siding you have to use 1 1/2 inch roofing nails and make sure you don't hamer them in tight. vinyl siding must be left loose if you hamer it down tight it will become deformed in the hot summer sun..so leave alteast 1/4 inch of play between the head of the nail and the wall..good luck.if you need anymore information on intalling siding feel free to e-mail me at roncaron@walla.com
It sounds like you want to use siding on the house to cover the wood or stucco walls. Usually people use Aluminum siding, but Vinyl must be backed with a stiff material so as not to buckle. Use a 1 1/2" flat head nail that can stand up to weather and corrosion.

Use 1 1/2" galvanized roofing nails and don't hammer them in tight. The siding must expand and contract with the moisture and temperature outdoors. Hammer a nail at each end and 2 or 3 in the "field" area and you should be set.
alum roofing nails. galv work also. get the nail in length you need to grab good wood. yes leave the panels loose. alum. siding is way too $$
you can use roofing nails about 1 1/4"
david o , good one, i guess its all in how you interpret the question...lol
length of nails is going to depend on what the thickness of wall suface you are trying to penetrate through. Is it half inch or 3/4? Do you have insul board on the walls or not? An inch penetration into the actual wall sheating is at least what you ned. So if you have just 1/2 " sheating 1 1/2 nails would work. If you have insul board also add that thickness to the nail size. Remember always nail your siding into a stud. Like everyone else says leave a gap between the siding and the wall for expasion. Directions are usually on the box or a click away on the computer from the manufacturer
