How Do you keep a jacuzzi clean and the water nice and blue?
Question:My mom cleaned it yesterday but its only a matter of time before the water goes green lol. Please give me detailed items not just oh clorine because theres lots of chlorines.
Answers:
you cannot use chlorine in a hot tub, it breaks down at heat, you need a good bromide,,, after changing the water you need to really rinse out the filter.
that should keep it clean for awhile, I stopped using all kinds of chemicals in mine except bromide in a floater cuz it is 350 gallons of water and I was getting a ph roller coaster, so I change monthly,
as for green, I have found that naked is the only way to go, and shower before hand, NO PERFUMED SOAPS, or shampoos, just rinse off really good< clothing or swimsuits contain " stuff" in them, esp if they have been washed in the washer, that is what is making your tub GREEN, happens every time I have friends over and they wont get naked, sorry that sounds weird but it is the truth,, mine never turns green just gets chemically smelly, from the cover being on all the time except during use,
It is all about the chemicals. You need the little test strip to dip in the water and compare the results to the pictures on the bottle. Bromide is to disinfect and chlorine is to keep it clean. and kill algae. There is also Ph+ and PH- to keep a balance. Remember to clean your filter ofter too. If you do these simple steps and change the water every few months you should be cool. Good luck.
Well, you actually want the water to be nice and clear... :)
While chlorine is a common sanitizing agent there are others. The reason I mention this is because you may have been using Bromine, Baquacil or others and these chemicals are not interchangeable.
If I were you I'd see what the manufacturer recommends and follow as closely as possible.
I have had very good luck with using a quality water test kit, Costco's Shock (concentrated chlorine granuals), Chlorine tabs, Arm & Hammer Baking soda (to raise PH) and Twenty Mule Team Borax (to lower PH (Walmart)). This in a 45, 000 gallon pool.
For the most part the same applys to your tub but on a smaller scale.
So, see if you can locate the manufactures recommendations and plan out the steps needed to maintain the water in your tub.
