Well, simply by nature humans find females more pleasant and trustworthy so people would rather have a female plumber.
Depending on what you are having plumbed, most women can fit into tighter spaces than men can and would probably do a better job as a result. A man who has to crawl under a house to sodder some pipe and can barely fit will want to get in and get out as quickly as possible. A smaller framed woman can fit into the same space with lots of room to spare and will take their time rather than rush to get out of the hole.
I suppose it also depends on which kind of plumbers crack you would like to see!
As a single female, I would feel more comfortable with a female plumber due to safety. However, she would have to be as licensed/skilled/etc. as a male one.

yeah of course. Women actually get their work done, wheras it takes a man at least one day to actually work out whats wrong.Then theres the challenge of finding the solution (takes at least another morning) - you can imagine...

Providing the person is a fully qualified plumber and is competent I personally don't mind whether it is a he or she.
For those who feel insecure or for whatever reason, in inviting a male onto the premises a female plumber is the answer.

Most likely a gay male plumber would be the best choice...After all he would have More experience in unclogging pipes than either.Plus he would be able to judge diameters and lenghts better as well...Not to mention the whole "snaking" out a clog thing.
I had a female gas fitter come and service my cent rel heating system , and she did a very good job ,she worked for British gas .
if she is a good plumber why not?.
