how much & how thick?
I've used a razor blade--the old fashioned kind where you have just the razor itself. you can get razor holders at the dime store.
If it's really gunky, you may need a hammer & chisel----or there may be gel or liquid fixes at the Home Depot.
Good luck!
scrape, scrape, scrape. Not glamourous but the truth.
This advice is only to be used on tile, NOT stone, slate or marble. Also, if your tile has been installed in the last week, let it cure and then use this to clean it up.
If there are large chunks of grout, knock them off with a razor scraper held at an angle.
Remove any remaining grout by heating white vinegar (not boiling), pour into a spray bottle, and with a scrubbie pad, spray the misplaced grout, scrub until loosened and then wipe clean with a damp cloth. I prefer the microcloths.
Complete these steps in small areas and finish by rinsing with clear water and wiping dry.
It may take some elbow grease, but works very well, is inexpensive and pet/child friendly.
If it was a contractor that did the job I would have them come back and clean up their mess. It is definitely their responsibility. Otherwise, you can use a plastic scraper (bought or made out of a heavy plastic container) to scrape it off. Plastic will save extra damage to your surfaces. It usually chips off fairly easily but can leave marks from the alkali in the grout. These can be dressed up on cabinets with furniture polish or walls with a strong cleaner like Simple Green. If major damage was done you may need a stain touch-up pen or a little paint to get it back to normal.
Good Luck!
