Anybody know a good way to get the glue off of wine bottles?
Question:Hey Y'all, I live in the deep gulf south aka katrinaland. I built a bottletree, a southern traditional outdoor piece of kitsch(sp). The problem I have is its so damn hard to get the glue off of wine/liquor bottles after the label is peeled, the glass just gets sticky and tacky and you can see the glue from a mile away. Thanks ya'll for any help you can offer.

Goo Gone! It is a really great product! You can buy it at the Dollar Store & other retail stores! This product works wonders!
hot water and goo be gone may work
Try rubbing or soaking (preferred) in ammonia water. Should easily loosen the glue.
I'd try nail polish remover, (or acetone).
You can get this stuff called 'Goo Gone' at most craft sores. Or stuff called 'Goof Off' at harware stores. The Goo Gone has a nice orange smell to it. The Goof Off is pretty strong and can give you a headache quick. All you have to do is sprinkle a little on the place with the glue, let it set for a minute and then rubb off with a towel. It works great.
A little lighter fluid will do the trick in a skinny minute. Use the kind that you'd use in a Zippo. Hope this helps.
Goo Gone or Goof Off. Works great. Home Depot or Lowes carry them.
If nothing else try M.E.K., or methyl-ethyl-ketone as a last resort. It's a nasty chemical, but I haven't found an adhesive that it won't dissolve.
a little bit of white spirit and cotton wool should do the trick..
ilufthemountains should get best answer...
The naphtha in Zippo lighter fluid will always do the trick...Apply the lighter fluid and wipe off quickly with toilette paper...Then flood with hot water to get the greasy feeling off...
Now I gotta know how to get the wine out of my glue bottle..Any suggestions?
try hot soapy water let the bottle soak for a few mins and then just rub it off
When all else fails I find that Brasso is a great solvent and it has mildly abrasive properties too.
