If u stain concrete right it can have the smooth surface of marble or glass and looks cool too and its cheap but u got to do it right.Perfect for sliding on ur socks : )

Yes,you can. Concrete, cinder blocks even natural rock takes well to staining. Use an oil-base stain and varying colors to make it look natural. The thicker you apply the stain, the darker the effect. You can thin the stain with mineral spirits for a lighter look, (Recommended) . If you don`t like it light, you can always darken it, but if you apply it dark first, and don`t like it, there`s no going back. Indoors will last a lot longer than out, as outdoors will weather quicker.
Yes there are some very good stone/concrete stains on the market, giving a variety of natural hues.
They are acid based so take care, wear goggles and rubber gloves. They are generally applied by brush: one or more coats depending on the desired effect. After the application dries just scrub the surface clean with fresh water.
Most of the larger reputable builders' merchants stock these stains, or will order them for you.
