How to insulate an attic/ garage?
Question:We want to make the garage into a room
and need to insulate the attic.. Whats the best way??

Fiberglass insulation is the best option. It is cost effective, can be cut to fit perfectly, and is more resistant to mold than blown insulation. it can be freely placed between studs or joists as you hang a ceiling and walls. It comes in rolls and different R factors (higher R factor provides better insulation).
Wear gloves when handling fiberglass!
The best thing is spray in foam of course this is not cheap at all. The next best thing is fiberglass. You can buy batts and lay them between the rafters or have blown in fiberglass which is better as it has less gaps though it will tend to compress some under it's own weight over time. This is not a DIY job though.
Fiberglass is also dangerous for your lungs so if you install it yourself wear a respirator that is designed for fiberglass use. You don't want thousands of little glass fibers cutting your lungs.
You can also use blown in cellulose (ground up paper) which is good though over time it tends to compact under it's own weight. It is very low cost. It is treated with Boron to prevent insects/mold from eating it and it also acts as a fire retardant. You can buy it at most home centers an rent the machine to blow it in and the same store.
