How do I lay a fibre glass roof?
Question:Do I need trims for edges and what type of trims
Answers:
please edit your question. Are you going to lay down a fiberglass shingle roof, a tar rood, a rolled roofing? What kind of trim do you mean, dripedge (metal) or wood? most houses come with trim on them.. Need more info please.
Hi,
Fibreglass sticks to most anything so if you are joining onto another roof you can just stick them together.
Apply a primer to clean the roof, lay resin, mat on top then soak the mat with resin. Use a coloured resin if you want.
My roof has no trim around the edges.
Normally you just form the fibreglass straight over the edge onto the barge board, or straight into the guttering (Don't stick it to the gutter though)
Thing to remember is that a large roof will contract and expand, a lot, so you must allow for that movement with the roof ties.
My advice, get a professional, it is a really messy, sticky job and they have the tools to apply and mix resin easily.
